Thoughts and Process
My One-shot for a manga contest. I made this in a month for submission to a manga contest while i was grueling as a final semester uni student. I was really trying my luck and best here.
I used Clip Studio Painting as the software and Artstudio Pro. I used both to draw and sketch, for the Layouting and text though its mainly Clip Studio Paint
Since i was in a huge pressure but in a high motivation, i didn’t think much about how fleshed out the story is. I made this with the mindset of having fun, and being creative, regardless of the logic. Since i was just watching the Fargo TV show back then, i had in mind of a chaos ensurer role for a character, and Tomato serves that role, she wreaks havoc in a random high school by using money. I also have more ideas on a series of different stories where a person or a group pays people to do something which ensues chaos.
The male protagonist i created has a more generic appearance compared to Tomato in order to give a huge contrast to their dynamic. That aspect also supports his behavior of leaning to the majority or society.
About the drawing process, it was very painful for me as an artist. I was on a dilemma on trying different artstyles, I remade pages just because it didn’t look good to me. I wasnt satisfied with the way I render or hatch the lines. This is another goal for me as an artist is that I probably should design a set reference for the style, it’s also maybe a flaw since I was doing it for fun.
